Fun filled events that bring the community together and enhance a love of Rowntree Park
The Friends of Rowntree Park offer a range of events throughout the year for all ages. These include a range of family and children’s events such as forest school and nature/eco-based sessions. We also run adult craft and wellbeing sessions, nature walks and have live music in the park at weekends in the summer.

We have weekly forest school for 2-5 year olds and monthly Saturday Forest School for 6-12 year olds. We run sessions for home-educated children too. There is also the VYF and yoga for children. We also run a range of art, craft, ‘eco’ and nature events through the year.
Our craft group meets on Monday afternoons in term time.
We also have ‘Woods for Wellbeing’ sessions, as well as nature walks, and bird- and bat-watching events.
Events for schools and nurseries
We offer a range of bespoke sessions for educational settings. These include Forest School and survival experiences as well as nature-based sessions tailored to the curriculum and needs of the children.

We have some Tree Trails and Yoga Trails set up in the park. You can buy your leaflet for just £1 from the cafe.
There is a permanent orienteering course set up in the park by Eborienteers. Maps can be borrowed from the cafe or you can download the maps for the three routes here
Events from outside providers
Tennis – Rowntree Park Tennis club manage the tennis courts. Courts must be booked in advance and are available to both members and non-members of the club. The club also offer a range of tennis lessons for adults and children of all abilities. Find out more here
Nordic Walking – two groups use the park as their starting and endpoint on Mondays and Fridays. You can find out more via York Council.
Pilate and Yoga in the Park – throughout summer and autumn 2021 there have been a few sessions a week. Once they can return to their studio, they will still run sessions in the park, but less often. See here for details (York Pilates People).
Kindermusik – Regular weekday sessions. See here for details.
Tree Babies – relaxation and meditation for children under 12 months and their parents. Monthly. Contact Kirsty for information : firstname.lastname@example.org
