We run a range of events for adults. Some events are family-friendly and others are adult-only. Members and non-members are welcome to all our events. There is sometimes a members discount offered when able.
Current adult events and activities:
Gardening – Range of weekly sessions:
Currently there are sessions on Mondays, Tuesday, Thursdays and Friday mornings. Certain days focus on specific areas. You can register interest in volunteer gardening on our volunteer sign up page here and our gardening lead will be in touch!
Woods for Wellbeing – Mindfulness and natural crafts (one-off events). We run a range woodland crafts for adults. Sessions include things such as willow weaving, slow stitch nature writing, and an indoor craft social group through colder months. Please see our booking page for what is currently on offer – do keep checking back as it’s updated regularly.
Whittling Workshops – we run a range of green woodwork workshops where you can develop basic whittling skills.
Nature and History Walks – walks for adults run at times (subject to volunteer availability and interest) . You can register interest here to be the first to find out when walks are running.
Christmas Wreath Making – annual (start of December). This event must be booked in advance (advertised from September).

Salsa
Salsa classes take place in the park in spring and summer months. To find and more and book your place – here
Pilates in the Park
Usually running through summer months. Keep an eye on our social media and York Pilates Peoples page for updates. See here for details (York Pilates People).
Tai Chi
Running Saturday and Wednesday mornings. Tai Chi combines deep breathing and relaxation with flowing movements. Contact Richard for details: siwiaks@hotmail.com
Move the Masses – wellbeing walks
Second Tuesday of each month – free. Gentle walks aimed at older or less physically able people who want to get some fresh air, get moving and all with some good, friendly company. Meet outside Rowntree Park Reading café, at the bottom of the steps. Contact: libby@movethemasses.org.uk
Rowntree Park tennis club is a private club that manages the tennis courts, and that welcomes new members. The club now offers an online booking system, which lets the public book and pay for the courts. There are a number of sessions for adults and children that you can book onto.
Orienteering – There is a permanent orienteering course set up in the park by Eborienteers. Maps can be borrowed from the cafe or you can download the maps for the three routes here
Nordic walkers also use the park as their starting and finishing point on Mondays and Fridays. Find out more here




Run an event in Rowntree Park
We oversee the running of events in the park. Spaces can be booked or the whole park for large events open to the public. Please contact us if you have an event in mind.
