We are always looking for volunteers to help in Rowntree Park. Whether a one-off or a more regular thing, we’d love to hear from you.

We have a range of opportunities to suit a range of skills and interests. Click on the roles to find out more.

Please note: If a role is not on the form, it’s because we currently have enough volunteers, but there is a space to state a role you are interested in. We will contact you when we start recruiting for that role again.

Regular group events/activities

Our gardening sessions generally take place on the following days and times, but we will update you once you’ve registered interest as a volunteer. There are also occasional weekend and evening sessions in summer months.
Mondays – 9.30-10.30 (or 10.30-11.30) – Friends Garden
Tuesdays – 9.30-11.30 (Sensory Garden) – stops November to February
Thursdays – 10am-12pm (various areas) – all year
Friday – 9.30-10.30 (or 10.30-11.30) – Rose memorial Garden/pergola

There are opportunities to focus on the orchard, wildlife area and new Tansy beetle habitats we are developing too.

Craft Group
Not ‘volunteering’ as such, but we have a craft group who meet, craft and natter and also at times create projects and displays for the park. From Jan 2022- Easter the project is linked to wildlife and the aim is a display in the park. They meet Tuesdays 1.30-3pm in the cafe in the park. We can put you in touch with the group lead – drop us a line at hello@rowntreepark.org.uk or pop along and say ‘hi’!

Workplace Volunteer days

We do welcome work volunteer days in Rowntree Park. If your company is registered with YorkCares, we ask you to go through them and can specifically ask to help in Rowntree Park. If your workplace is not with them, get in touch and we will aim to sort something out.
