The Friends of Rowntree Park handle bookings for the park (in conjunction with Make it York/City of York Council). We love having events in the park whether you want to run a workshop, a sports/exercise activity, host a large gather for a group/organisation, have your band play, have a birthday party – then get in touch – hello@rowntreepark.org.uk.

As it is a ‘managed’ park – it’s important events are discussed with us. You cannot use the space and charge people for sessions without permission from the ‘land owner’ – in this case, the council allow us to make the decisions. This includes 1:1 sessions if there is a cost involved. Every enquiry is dealt with on a bespoke basis – we want to support your event and help make it happen.
Areas such as the basketball courts and skatepark cannot be used for regular bookings – it’s important they remain open to the public. However, it is possible to arrange ‘one off’ events utilising the areas for special team events or a specific workshop (open to members of the public).

The main areas that tend to be hired for events are the railed gardens and the woodland story circle. Large events (festival types) tend to use the large space between the play parks.
