Get festive with the Friends!

For the last few years, the Friends of Rowntree park have run Christmas wreath-making workshops and they’ve proved popular – so we are excited to announce tickets for our December 2022 sessions are on sale now!
Not only are we offering sessions, but as the ‘take away kits’ also proved popular for the last two years we will also have them! The pre-packed kits for those who’d rather create at home (or host a little event with friends).
The Christmas wreath-making session/kits give you the chance to create your own natural festive wreath made from foliage our volunteers have foraged from the park and local area. This is always a popular event and sells out fast. It’s a lovely community activity and also raises some money for our charity (the Friends help maintain and improve Rowntree Park).
Sessions are running on Saturday 3rd of December at 9.30 or 11am.
We run the sessions on the cafe balcony (and some limited space inside). York Explore run the cafe and have kindly hosted the event for a number of years – so why not grab some coffee and a croissant as you craft! The sessions are self-led – we provide the resources, some instructions and are on hand to help if needed, but basically, it’s down to you to create as you wish!

You can join the Friends of Rowntree Park for only £5 if you are not already a member. In addition to discounts and 10% off at the cafe, you get regular newsletters and support volunteers who care for the park. You are welcome to join online and then buy a members ticket straight away.
Christmas Wreath Packs
With your take away wreath kit, you can opt either to take home and craft in the warmth with Christmas music blaring, OR arrange to meet some friends in the park and find yourself a space- hijack a table in the railed gardens or maybe head to the log story circle. Stick on the thermals and pack that thermos with coffee or mulled wine.
Packs can be picked up on Saturday 3rd of December from 10am-11.30am from below the cafe.
Wreath kits will include everything you need to create your own fantastic Christmas wreath and also includes a free Friends of Rowntree Park tote bag!

Kits are £15 for members and £17.50 for non members.
You buy your ticket through our provider ‘Bookwhen’ and they send you email confirmation. we aim to send a reminder before the event.
All profit goes back into our volunteer’s work in helping maintain and improve Rowntree Park for the community.
